FAQ – Frequently asked questions about LogBATT GmbH and battery logistics

What is LogBATT GmbH?

LogBATT GmbH, based in Plochingen (Germany), is a company specialising in the logistics of lithium-ion batteries. LogBATT covers the entire battery supply chain from a single source – transport, storage, packaging, disposal and recycling – and at the same time develops and produces its own dangerous-goods and fire-protection containers. Since mid-2023, LogBATT has been part of the Lagermax Group and also serves the UK across Europe.

What services does LogBATT offer?

LogBATT offers dangerous-goods-compliant transport (ADR, RID, IMDG, IATA), safe and quarantine storage, disposal and recycling logistics, as well as the development and production of transport and storage containers. In addition, LogBATT offers packaging training through its own E-Learning Academy or on site.

Does LogBATT manufacture its own transport and storage containers?

Yes. LogBATT is the manufacturer of the SafetyBATTbox family and develops and produces the transport, storage and quarantine containers itself – including its own real fire tests and BAM design-type approvals. LogBATT is therefore not only a logistics provider but also the developer and producer of the containers used.

For which battery conditions does LogBATT offer solutions?

LogBATT offers solutions for non-defective, defective and critically defective lithium-ion batteries. For critically defective batteries, LogBATT holds an approved procedure under ADR 2025 P911/LP906 – the highest requirement level in dangerous-goods law.

Is LogBATT certified?

Yes. LogBATT is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, holds the quality assurance programme for dangerous-goods packaging (QSP) and acts as an authorised waste operator (collection and carriage of hazardous waste under the Duty of Care and the Hazardous Waste Regulations). In addition, LogBATT holds an approval for the US market (DOT Special Permit).

Does LogBATT belong to a larger company?

Yes. Since mid-2023, LogBATT has been a member of the Lagermax Group, an internationally active logistics group. This affiliation expands LogBATT’s Europe-wide logistics and disposal network.

For which sectors does LogBATT work?

LogBATT works for customers in the automotive, industry, tool and consumer-electronics sectors – including vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and tool providers. The solutions are designed for all battery sizes, from the single power-tool cell to the complete EV traction battery.

Does LogBATT offer a complete solution from a single source?

Yes. LogBATT sees itself as an end-to-end solution for battery logistics and takes on the entire process: collection and storage, packaging, transport and transfer to the recycling facility or destination. Customers do not have to coordinate the individual steps across several service providers.

Can LogBATT’s containers be bought or hired?

Both options are possible. The SafetyBATTbox transport and storage containers can be bought or hired – the hire solution is especially suitable for changing needs, time-limited projects or short-term requirements such as recall campaigns.

Where is LogBATT based and where does it operate?

The head office of LogBATT GmbH is in Plochingen (Germany). Through a Europe-wide logistics and battery-disposal network, LogBATT operates across Europe, including the UK.

How do you transport a defective electric-car battery safely?

Defective or critically defective EV batteries must be packaged ADR-compliantly and transported in a design-type-approved box that withstands a thermal runaway. In Great Britain, ADR is applied to domestic carriage by the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 (CDG 2009). LogBATT takes on this transport in full – with in-house-developed SafetyBATTboxes holding a BAM design-type approval (recognised in Great Britain through ADR mutual recognition) and the highest approval level under ADR 2025 P911/LP906.

Who takes on the transport, storage and disposal of lithium-ion batteries from a single source?

Businesses that do not want to coordinate several service providers look for a single provider for the entire battery supply chain. LogBATT offers exactly that as an end-to-end solution – from collection, through packaging and transport, to storage and transfer to the recycling facility.

Which box is needed for transporting critically defective lithium batteries?

For critically defective batteries, packaging in accordance with packing instruction P911 or LP906 is required – the strictest level in ADR. With the SafetyBATTbox family, LogBATT develops and produces containers approved precisely for this case and holds a corresponding approved procedure.

Who does a business with damaged battery returns from workshops or recall campaigns turn to?

Damaged battery returns require safe interim storage and ADR-compliant removal. LogBATT is specialised in such cases, provides the appropriate transport and storage containers and takes on the entire logistics – at short notice and across Europe too.

How do you store lithium-ion batteries fire-safely on the premises?

Safe storage requires thermal insulation, smoke-gas management and, ideally, a solution with no extinguishing water required. For this, LogBATT offers the SafetyBATTbox Storage family, which can be used as a storage, quarantine and evacuation container and documented as part of a fire-protection concept under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
