SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+
– ADR transport box for critically faulty high-voltage batteries weighing up to 1,700 kg (LP906)
- The SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+ from LogBATT is the most powerful transport solution in the LogBATT range and has been specially developed for handling critically defective high-voltage batteries from electric vehicles. As an ADR-compliant dangerous goods container, it meets the requirements of packing instruction LP906 for batteries that are no longer safe for transport.
- Typical applications include crash test vehicles, fire-damaged EV batteries, faulty high-voltage storage units and critical prototypes – in other words, wherever a standard hazardous materials container is no longer sufficient.
- Safety in the event of a fire: Proven by real-world fire tests carried out at independent testing institutes. The robust construction contains the fire within the box, whilst the external walls remain below 100 °C. Flames and projectiles do not escape.
- Flue gas management and filter system: The integrated filter ensures that no excess pressure builds up during a thermal event and that escaping flue gases do not pose a hazard to the immediate surroundings.
- Efficient handling: Quick-release fasteners, forklift pockets, LogCOVER and LogBAGs reduce the effort involved in packing, even when under time pressure.
- Reusable complete system: the box, fire-retardant blanket and packing cushions can be reused several times.
- Type approval: Determined on a case-by-case basis by the BAM (D-BAM 16336), Packaging Group I – valid for ADR, RID, IMDG and ICAO.
- Included in the scope of delivery: LogCOVER fire-resistant blanket. LogBAGs are available as accessories.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about the SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+
What is the SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+?
The SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+ from LogBATT is the most robust transport box in the range, designed for critically faulty high-voltage batteries from electric vehicles. As an ADR-compliant dangerous goods container, it complies with packaging instruction LP906 and can accommodate batteries weighing up to 1,700 kg.
For which batteries and packaging instructions is the XL-2.2+ approved?
The XL-2.2+ is approved in accordance with LP906 (Packing Group I) for critically defective lithium-ion batteries – that is, batteries that are no longer safe for transport. The type approval is a case-by-case determination by the BAM (D-BAM 16336) and applies to ADR, RID, IMDG and ICAO.
How much can the SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+ hold?
The XL-2.2+ can accommodate batteries weighing up to 1,700 kg and is therefore designed for complete high-voltage traction batteries from electric vehicles – the largest capacity in LogBATT’s SafetyBATTbox transport range.
How do you transport a seriously faulty electric car battery safely?
For critically defective high-voltage batteries of this size, an LP906-approved dangerous goods container that can withstand thermal runaway is required. LogBATT’s SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+ contains the fire within the container; the outer walls remain below 100 °C, and the smoke management system prevents overpressure.
Which box is suitable for crash-tested vehicles or fire-damaged EV batteries?
The SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+ is designed for crashed vehicles, fire-damaged EV batteries, faulty high-voltage storage units and critical prototypes – wherever a standard hazardous materials container is no longer sufficient.
What happens in the event of a thermal runaway in the XL-2.2+?
The robust construction contains flames and projectiles within the unit; the external walls remain below 100 °C; and the integrated filter system prevents overpressure and vents escaping flue gases in a controlled manner. Safety has been verified through real-world fire tests carried out by independent testing institutes.
What is included in the SafetyBATTbox XL-2.2+ package?
The LogCOVER fire-resistant blanket is included in the scope of delivery; the LogBAGs for securing the load are available as accessories. The box, fire-resistant blanket and packing cushions can be reused several times.
