LogBATT GmbH is a specialist for the transport, storage and disposal of lithium-ion batteries (UN 3480 / UN 3481). We collect new, used, damaged and critically defective batteries directly at your site, package and label them in line with ADR, transport them across Europe and take care of all hazardous goods and waste documentation. With our in-house developed SafetyBATTbox transport crates and storage containers – available to buy or to rent – you get logistics and packaging from one single provider.
Our certified, exclusive network of partner companies allows you to transport batteries of all sizes – from single cells to complete EV and industrial batteries. In addition to our own fleet in Germany, we work with trained logistics partners in Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, France and Poland.
With our specialist focus on lithium-ion battery transportation, we offer Europe-wide disposal and worldwide logistics. We also provide our own hazardous goods transport crates, which you can use to dispatch defective, damaged and critically defective cells, modules and batteries – for a single shipment or as a permanent solution.

We take on all hazardous goods and hazardous waste processes. If desired, we go beyond transportation and handle the packaging, loading, labelling and documentation of your UN 3480 / UN 3481 lithium-ion batteries – including batteries that are damaged or critically defective.

Transporting damaged lithium-ion batteries safely
Why damaged batteries need a specialist carrier
Damaged or defective lithium-ion batteries – for example swollen, mechanically damaged, overheated or leaking batteries, or batteries after an accident or fire – are generally not accepted by standard parcel and express services. Transport by air is prohibited. By road, they may only be carried under the special conditions of ADR special provision 376, in approved packaging and by trained personnel. Which packaging is required depends on the condition of the battery:

LogBATT is not only a logistics provider: we develop and manufacture our own SafetyBATTbox range of transport crates and storage containers for lithium-ion batteries. You can use them as part of our logistics service, or buy or rent them for your own site.

Disposal logistics
No matter whether we’re talking about a single battery or a complete shipment of several tonnes, whether it has to go to a testing institution, a production facility, aftersales at a car dealership, a specialist or to your customer on site: our team takes over all hazardous goods activities, including disposal and recycling after accidents or fire damage, every waste legislation and hazardous goods approval needed and the documentation that goes with it.
Vehicles
All our vehicles, from sprinters to lorries, have the necessary ADR equipment and have been specially adapted according to official requirements for the transport of critically defective batteries, for example with 6x air exchange. Combined with our SafetyBATTbox transport crates, this allows us to transport even batteries with a risk of thermal runaway safely by road.
Container rental
All our transport containers are developed and manufactured in-house, authorised for hazardous goods including critically defective batteries to P911 / LP906 and inspected for compliance. We offer the SafetyBATTbox in different sizes – from small cells and modules to complete EV batteries – for rental as part of our logistics services and all-inclusive service package, or as a stand-alone rental of dangerous goods boxes and storage containers for your own site.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about lithium-ion battery logistics
Which company can transport damaged lithium-ion batteries?
LogBATT GmbH specialises in transporting damaged, defective and critically defective lithium-ion batteries by road. We collect the batteries at your site, package them in approved SafetyBATTbox transport crates in accordance with ADR special provision 376 and P908 / LP904 or P911 / LP906, and transport them with ADR-equipped vehicles in Germany and – via our certified partner network – across Europe.
Can damaged lithium batteries be sent with a normal parcel service?
Generally not. Standard parcel and express services usually exclude damaged or defective lithium batteries, and air transport of damaged or defective batteries is prohibited. They must be transported by road as dangerous goods under ADR special provision 376, in approved packaging and by trained personnel – which is exactly what LogBATT does.
Which packaging is required for critically defective lithium-ion batteries?
Damaged but stable batteries are packed according to packing instruction P908 (LP904 for large packagings). Batteries that can react dangerously – with rapid disassembly, flame, dangerous heat or gas release – require packaging according to P911 / LP906. Our SafetyBATTbox transport crates are developed in-house and approved for critically defective batteries to P911 / LP906.
Do you rent out dangerous goods boxes and storage containers for lithium batteries?
Yes. All SafetyBATTbox transport crates and storage containers can be rented – for a single shipment, a project or long-term – and are delivered to your site. They are also available to buy. Do you also transport lithium-ion batteries outside Germany?
Yes. In addition to our own fleet in Germany, we work with trained and certified logistics partners in Italy, the Netherlands, Hungary, France and Poland. We offer disposal logistics throughout Europe and organise worldwide battery logistics. Can you collect and dispose of lithium-ion batteries after an accident or fire?
Yes. We collect damaged batteries after accidents, fires or other incidents, secure them in suitable transport crates, handle all waste and hazardous goods documentation and bring them to certified recycling and disposal facilities.
